Given that a branch that does not spam all of the files in your
repository is fairly useless, I'd suggest you just want to survey
files that are likely to be on all branches. Like Makefile files
or ChangeLog files or README or the like.

However, if that is not satisfying enough, you may find it useful to
download and use viewcvs (http://viewcvs.sourceforge.net/) and/or
CvsGraph (http://www.akhphd.au.dk/~bertho/cvsgraph/).
