I don't think so.
Using your example, reconsider that you have NOT yet committed
anything to the branch. The branch tag (1.6.2) is correctly
attached to revision 1.6 and the first branch revision will
be 1.6.2.1 but it doesn't exist yet.
Right now revision 1.6 is the HEAD of BOTH trunk and branch.
