First of all, never touch anything in the CVS subdirectory. But I don't
think I need to tell you that now ;=)

The easiest thing to do is simply do a fresh checkout into a different
directory. If you have any outstanding changes, then you'll have to re-do
those changes on your fresh checkout. DO NOT simply copy the files from your
old checkout to the new one, unless you are ABSOLUTELY SURE nobody else has
checked anything in. One easy way to check is to check the value of the $Id$
keyword. If you're not using it, or at least the $Version$ keyword, then now
is a very good time to start.
