No, you meant "cvs -n commit".  The obsolete (and undocumented) -n
commit option meant something completely different.

That is (unfortunately) correct, but at least it doesn't commit the
files!  (Making commit work right without executing, particularly in
client/server mode, is extremely difficult, which is why it hasn't been
done.)
