cvs commit on windows and checkout onto unix

Suppose a developer using remote cvs checks in a file that was
coded up on windows, then later a unix developer checks that
file out. Does cvs understand to strip out the trailing \r
chars that windows puts on each line when the target machine
of the checkout is unix?
