:pserver: allows a great deal of options, such as credential management
system, while :ext: is mostly like using a :local: repository, and you
don't have access to the aforementioned features.
If you need a secured :pserver: you might want to establish a SSH
tunnel to the pserver bound to localhost on the server.
You might want to check the following URLs. Each one provides a way to
secure a pserver. Choose the one that fits the best to your needs or
constraints:
cvssh: a secure bridge for cvs pservers
http://www.sabren.net/code/cvssh/
ccvssh: ext-to-pserver SSL bridge for CVS
http://ccvssh.sourceforge.net/
I hope this will help.
Best regards
