Dear Mark, Larry,

Thank you both for your detailed responses.

We are currently using 1.12.9 and have been for the last couple of years.
Before then it was 1.11.x IIRC. The last Exp status dates back to 1998 then
and who knows what they were using at that time (our project is a lot older
than that too :-).

We do use NFS, but we've got it hard mounted with no interrupt, so it should
be safe. I think the explanation below is more believable than any disk
issues. I'm running the contrib/validate_repo script now (thanks for
mentioning it - I never realised it was there) to see what else that my
throw up.

So the fix would be to manually resurrect it (by simply moving it out of the
Attic?) then re-running the "cvs remove" command, so that it goes back into
the Attic and gets status "dead" on the HEAD revision?

Many thanks,

David Carter-Hitchin.
