cvsignore

I have two questions about cvsignore to which I'd appreciate answers. I'm
familiar with the construction of a list as it traverses the directories.
I'm tracking the files for a web site.

1. cvsignore only works on files, not directories, so for example I can't
use "/logs/" or even "/logs/*.*, but have to use "*.log" in
/logs/.cvsignore. Is that correct?

2. Given that I end up with .cvsignore files here and there should they be
added to the repository?
