Notice that "CVSNT" is not "CVS". It is a different product.
If you are using CVSNT, you might get better answers at

or
news://news.cvsnt.org/support.cvsnt
Notice: If you use mixed CVSNT and CVS (i.e., one as the server, the
other as a client), I do not know where it is best to ask such
questions.

This option "-kt" is not present with CVS, it is a CVSNT extension.
