This is the sort of task, in my experience, that Gnus is terrible at
handling: you get all the speed and performance of Emacs in what
should be a long-running automated process.  I'd search out another
tool, and quit pestering gnu.emacs.* for it unless you have a clear
idea how Emacs (or Gnus) is directly involved.

You ask these questions as though it's hard to find computing
facilities around MIT.
