Hello, I'm Stefano Tagliaro and I'm studying computer
science at the Department of Informatic Engineering,
University of Padua, Italy.
I and 2 collegues are going to study Gnunet's Doodle
desktop search utility, like a sort of thesys-project
for the Information Retrieval course.
We have to analyze and to evaluate the tool, and we
want to run it on both os Unix/Linux and MS Windows
platforms, in order to compare performances.
We know that Doodle needs the libextractor libraries
to work, but we're experiencing some problems
installing it on Windows 32-bit platform.
Now I would like to ask you: is it possible in some
way to install the libraries on Windows (we tried but
didn't succeed with the libextractor-0.5.17 zip file)?
In that case, do we need a UNIX emulator for Windows,
like MinGW, or can we run the libraries (and then
Doodle) directly on Windows?
Thanks very much
Stefano Tagliaro
