Hi Peter,

We've had different versions and implementations of the PDF extractor plugin 
(some based on XPDF, some based on our own parser code, now libpoppler, etc.).  
I suspect the Debian package you got was based on our own parser code, which 
was the least powerful (very incomplete).  

Installing LE 0.6.x should help here.
