I'm committing this, and will release 1.4.2 this weekend.  Not being
able to build on Solaris renders 1.4.1 useless on that platform, and
this patch does get libtool running again... much as I dislike it.

Alexandre, if you have time to explain your original change from `-z
text' to `-z defs' on Solaris, I would be most grateful...  ideally
I'd like to revert this patch and yours, to get back to the Solaris
configuration we used throughout 1.3.x.
