standards.texi in CVS gnulib says nothing on the subject.

Agreed.  Especially now that we mandate c89.

I probably need to move the loader-* files to a subdirectory to make
Makefile.am maintenance easier... so I can call the subdir loaders/,
and remove the loaders- part of the filenames I put in it.  That will
probably take care of it anyhoo :-)
