MinGW/Cygwin/Solaris/FreeBSD

I have verified that CVS libtool (plus patches submitted this evening) 
compile under Cygwin.  I have the testsuite running under Cygwin now, 
and it seems that there will be a few failures.

MinGW compilation should be practically identical to Cygwin 
compilation yet MinGW is now failing miserably.  I have attached a 
build log from MinGW since I am completely burnt out this evening, but 
perhaps some folks from Great Britian may want to take a look.

And for Solaris, this is the current report:
