Interesting. As an incentive for occasional contributers to write their own ChangeLog entry, I have long used the From Patch Author <address@hidden>, if I've had to write the ChangeLog entry myself. I think it is quite a nice convention :-(
The ChangeLog entry is a legal record and needs to reflect the person who contributed the work. It is necessary in case copyrights must be defended.
