It is still in the release of the manual that goes with the now deprecated
API... ;-)  I don't feel particularly strongly either way though.  If you
want to reintroduce documentation for the deprecated interfaces, then that's
okay with me.

Ugh!  That's bad news :-(  Do you have a before and after?  Is any of the
AU_* code in libtool to blame?  If so, it is an almighty showstopper for
2.0!
