Sure, that'd be a help. However, it isn't the "problem" here: with a patch of this magnitude I wouldn't dream of unilaterally applying it, 72 hour rule or not. It needs review and approval by the maintainers, regardless of who carries out the mechanics of applying the patch.
I didn't realize Ralf was on holiday -- that makes his silence lately and the slow reaction to my patch understandable <g>.
