Thanks. So this is indeed the same issue as Mike Frysinger described in
<http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/libtool/2007-12/msg00084.html>.
So far I can only suggest a workaround that may work for you.
You could try building with
make LDFLAGS=-L/home/goranh/src/etrax/target/crisv32-axis-linux-gnu/lib
