[PATCH] Vaticana style ligatures (fwd)

Seems my mail that I sent more than 9 hours ago got stuck somewhere, so
here it's once again.

By the way, the devel mail archive at mail.gnu.org currently shows only
two messages for January 2003.  Is that correct behaviour?

Hi!

Here is a first, still incomplete and error prone, but somewhat
basically functioning, early version of ligatures as printed in
Editio Vaticana.

I am currently failing in building the documentation (see below), but I
hope that's just because of my weird tex/texinfo configuration and not
a mistake in the property/interface description.
