That's great. May I suggest you start with the web site? That has a
much bigger audience than the documentation.
The website is maintained in CVS. You can check out the website doing
cvs -d :pserver:address@hidden:/cvsroot/lilypond co newweb
Have a look at the README and TRANSLATION files for how to start a new
translation.
