That depends on Han-Wen, whether he thinks this is a good solution. I think it 
should be included in lilypond.

The question is whether this is really a good solution to do this in 
parenthesize or whether it should rather be implemented in the stencil (?) of 
EventChord (just like it might be nice to parenthesize whole sequences like 
\parenthesize { c c c c } with parentheses around the whole sequence -- this 
cannot be done easily in parentesize, but needs to be done a level lower).

This, however, would need to be done by someone else, while the solution in 
parenthesize already exists...

The LSR snippet should stay anyway for lilypond 2.10 and <2.11.43.
