Undersatnd, and I really mean this sincerely.  Carl is bending
over backwards to help you.  He's also far more polite than other
developers.  His comments are aimed at *saving you wasted effort*.

As far as I can tell, your patches would not be accepted for
merging into lilypond.  Surely you would rather discover this
*now*, instead of after 20 hours of work learning scheme and
whatnot?

In my mind, any useful discussion ends here.

I'm not saying that your ideas are bad, but they differ so
radically from the rest of lilypond that I cannot imagine them
being accepted into our source tree.  Please listen to Carl's
concerns, and try typesetting some pieces.  That will give you a
much better idea of how lilypond works -- after doing this, you
will probably realize that Carl was right and it would be better
to pursue your ideas in a different program.
