Has anyone else experienced an apparent out-of-tune-ness with the MIDI piano sound? I don't mean 30 cents flat, as I've seen discussed elsewhere, but rather it sounds to me as if the "piano" is not in tune with itself.
Note that plucked string instruments are inharmonic, and in the real world tuned with some scale stretch in order to compensate for that. On a grand, which tries to minimize inharmonicity, it is a few cents per octave. If your piano patch produces the frequency send to it without scale stretch, then it will sound a bit out of tune. Compare with a pipe organ patch, which should be harmonic, and in no need of scale stretch.
