Looks interesting, though you need to do a regression test check to
make sure there are no side-effects.

This crashes, since the following line

+  if (scm_to_bool (me->get_object ("collides")))

returns a `Wrong type' error for the default case (since 'collides
will return '()).  Use to_boolean () instead (and get_property
()/set_property ()).
