Can you please have a look at the midi output in HEAD? I think that
this behaviour was an artifact of voices being lumped together on one
track and channel. Hopefully, in this example
<< e1 \\ { c4 d e f } >>
there are two voices that go to separate tracks and the
merging does not happen.
