I'm doing almost exactly this at present, solving the "missing pictures in web" bug. A general solution to replicate the python command you see as output from make is to use $HOME/lilypond-git/build/out/bin/ as the path to the python command - e.g $HOME/lilypond-git/build/out/bin/lilypond-book
