The Japanese text seems to have lost its kerning.  
(I do not know if it is supposed to be kerned, though.)
I do not see any code changes that could cause that, so maybe a change in
the installed Japanese fonts did it?

To me the new beam placements look good --more consistent with those of 
their similar neighbors.
