An Ubuntu 13.10 font problem?

Hi,

I'm using Ubuntu 13.10 alpha right now, with

address@hidden:/usr/local/tmp/lilypond$ fontforge --version
Copyright (c) 2000-2011 by George Williams.
 Executable based on sources from 23:14 GMT 25-Feb-2011-ML.
 Library based on sources from 13:48 GMT 22-Feb-2011.
fontforge 20110225
libfontforge 20110222-ML

and
address@hidden:/usr/local/tmp/lilypond$ gs --version
9.10

and I find that something like

\new Staff { c' d' e' f' }

looks like

zzz.pdf
Description: Adobe PDF document

namely, with a clef that is rather appalling.  Anybody has an idea what
might be responsible for this one?
