If you search the mailing list archives, you will notice that
this is a known problem that unfortunately was introduced in
version 2.2.5, but has been solved again in version 2.2.6.

I'm using the cygwin version of Lilypond 2.2.5 and noticed that tempo
markings seem to have gone away since 2.2.2. An unchanged source file
that included:
\tempo 4=58
printed <note>=58 using 2.2.2 and nothing under 2.2.5. I ran the file
through convert-ly in case anything had changed in the syntax, but it
didn't do anything. Is this an intentional change or a bug? I can't
test it on other versions at the moment since I'm limited to cygwin.
Thanks,
Russ
