An example of this kind would be an excellent addition to the manual.
Already exists, at least in 2.5.8.
Note that the manual uses a \property macro that Lilypond does not
compile. I put in \set as a substitute.
What version of Lilypond are you using? And which version of the
manual? \property is used in early Lilypond, but doesn't exist
in 2.4. You should probably upgrade -- at the very least, you should
make sure you use the version of the manual that matches your
LilyPond version. :)
