Hey, that's a neat idea. We could append to variables iso. overwriting, 
if they have been defined before,

  \parallelMusic #'(a b) { c | d | c | d }
  \parallelMusic #'(a b) { p | q }

->

 a = { { c c } p }
 b = { { d d } q }
