Strange errors on missing braces

Hi all,
following example

\version "2.11.37"

\score {
<<
 c4 e d f
>>

leads to the strange error message:
/usr/local/lilypond/usr/share/lilypond/current/ly/init.ly:28:0: Fehler: 
syntax error, unexpected SCM_TOKEN

#(if (and (ly:get-option 'old-relative)
Programmierfehler: Parsed object should be dead: static 
scm_unused_struct* Prob::mark_smob(scm_unused_struct*)

I would consider this a bug, because this message neither says what the 
real error is, nor even lets the user know, that the error is in his 
file, not in a Lily init file.
