NR 3.4.3 Distances and measurements ?

That said, this section of the docs is still being worked on, so
it may be unclear or contain inaccuracies.

Thanks, I found the section (turns out it's actually 5.4.3) which is helpful.  
I'm guessing stems are measured in half-spaces?
