Hi Christian,

I changed your example a little to make it work:

  title = " \"Creep\" by Radiohead" 
}

   \new ChordNames { 
 \chordmode { g g: sus4  }  % I put a space between the colon and sus4

  } 

  \new Voice \with { 
    \consists Pitch_squash_engraver 
  } \relative c'' { 
    \improvisationOn 
g1  
g1 % I took out the ":sus4" part
}
