I hope you have read the latest version of the Learning Manual, especially
http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.13/Documentation/learning/voices-contain-music
(Even if you use version 2.12 of the program, I still recommend to read the
Learning Manual for version 2.13, since it's been further improved).
Once you are familiar to that material, you should take a look at
http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.13/Documentation/notation/specific-uses-of-lyrics
where especially the second example shows exactly what you asked about.
