to produce a whole measure rest in parentheses. (In common time of course.) Unfortunately, I don't know how to do it. "Why not \parenthesize r1" I hear some of you asking? Well, because in such a case the rest is rendered to the left, and not in the middle of the measure. I considered using this snippet:
http://lsr.dsi.unimi.it/LSR/Item?id=430 but it seems to give the functionality which is already present in the newer versions of Lilypond. I'd greatly appreciate some advice on this! I feel I'm missing something simple.
