Scheme functions with #:

Subject: Scheme functions with #:

In some Scheme code I find functions prefaced with #:, such as #:roman, #:translate, and so on. What is this syntax? How does one find where such items are defined? Maybe I am no longer any good at finding things, but I have looked everywhere.
