It is possible to disable SIP (System Integrity Protection, the official name for Mac's "rootless" system). You can find instructions here:

Obviously Apple recommends not doing this as a general principle, but disabling it should enable you to run the traces you want to run in the same way you'd do that on any other Unix machine.
