I've noticed the fingering and considered to change it as you propose.
But it is indeed a possibility. I use it sometimes myself for situations like

\new Voice { \clef "G_8" << <g^0 c'^1 e'^0>1 \\ { c4-3 g,-4 e, g,-4 } >> }
