[Linphone-users] Laptop internal speakers now always on |

Hello all,
I have no experience with VoIP but will get a headset soon, as I am in
Japan right now and want to stay in touch with people at home.
I just wanted to check out the UI of linphone, so I fired it up briefly.
To my surprise, my laptops internal speakers came on, even though I had
earphones plugged in. This gave my colleagues in the office quite a start.
I then shut down linphone but the speakers were still on.
I suppose that you do this to allow people to hear the "phone ring" even
without wearing headphones but don't understand why it stays this way.
Now I have the problem that I cannot reactivate the function of the sound
chip that switches off the internal speakers when having the earphones
plugged in. That means no sound for me at the office.
This behaviour remains even after reboots (had this for a few days now
while playing around with the sound driver to see if I can fix this
myself).
Unfortunately, my sound driver does not expose this function (i.e. switch
off when plugged in) to the mixer apps (I've tried many).
Now since your program made this switch, I suppose you know how to swisch
back and forth between these function (change some file in /proc ?).
Otherwise, could you perhaps direct me to a sound driver that exposes this
function to the mixer apps?
Using headphones is no fun right now, so thank you very much for any help
you can provide.
Andreas
