Just to clear up any residual doubts that may have been left behind
by Uwe's mail:  provided you clearly state which language each word
is in, by use of the @Language symbol, as in

    French @Language { Bon jour, mes amis! } said Voltaire;
    Italian @Language { Ciao! } said da Vinci, ...

(sorry about the example, I'm no linguist) Lout will hyphenate each
word according to the rules of that word's language.  The default
language is given by the @InitialLanguage option.  Hyphenation is
the principle reason why Lout knows about languages at all; the
other reason is for inserting words like Chapter and Index
automatically in the correct language.
