seems like you would be better off with

    def @Chord
        left chord
        right word
    {
        @OneCol { chord ^//0.2f word }
    }

and then writing text like this:

    G @Chord Knock, knock, D @Chord knocking on heaven's Am @Chord door

If it's in the middle of a word, you can use braces:

    On {G @Chord Broad}{Dm @Chord way}
