limit on size?

I'm trying to make a poster with Lout, and seem to be hitting a limit and
rolling over into negative numbers.

I get a message like this when I increase my height from 22i to 23i:

lout file "testBig.lout":
    93,1: forced to enlarge @High from -57.171c to 2.540c

Is there really such a size limitation for lout?  Is there some option
somewhere I missed?
