Follow-up Comment #1:

Why? Isn't the IPv4 code the same? And as far as I read it,
IP_ADD_MEMBERSHIP/IP_DROP_MEMBERSHIP are meant for IPv4 only, not for IPv6 as
netconn_join_leave_group() handles it.
