This page demonstrates some aspect of the problem I have
been finding here and there. Rather than simply listing
their links, people put them into some redirect program
that fails. Can any of you use Lynx to access the URLs
so trapped at the top of the URL below?
Yes, I was able to follow the thread with Lynx 2.5 -- as you may
have guessed by the time you saw my post on this. I believe that
the failure of the redirect has to do with the "redirects and
form modes" FAQ. I didn't capture and read the trace, but I
think I saw enough fly by to confirm that their redirect swaps
modes from POST to GET on the redirect, which is illegal by v2.6
[2.6 got strict and lots of 'em now fail]. Version 2.4.1 just
ain't gonna cope with most of that page. If the site authors
just put up one vanilla entry page where they give the LoTech
visitor a chance to follow the appropriate path, they can have
all the wizzy widgets they want on the the 2nd through Nth page
of the high-glitz path. The first page doesn't have to be
text-only. It just has to be "safe." That's the DTD we haven't
produced, yet: "safe."
