I had also wondered about this. Sometimes it is necessary to download
a file from an internal server and move it to another server to perform
an html validation by a third-party validation service. Lynx really
should not change a single byte when in d)ownload mode, i.e., the docu-
ment should be an exact copy regardless of whether the document is
binary or text. IMHO

PS

I, like Larry and others, may have to leave this list if it truly has
been targeted for spam. My procmail filter is starting to break down.

Would it help to make posting to lynx-dev closed to subscribers only?

Is there any concrete and constructive advice we could give to Bob,
our gracious host, to help the situation without burdening him?

Al's advice to keep copies as evidence I believe is the best bet
for most of us. Those who really know what they're doing could
go ahead and do the whois/nslookup/traceroute with legitimate
requests to stop. But whatever you do, don't create a mail loop
that will kill lynx-dev.
