Most of those requesting SSL are Windows users and the 
new breed of Linux user, who operate binary only systems.  It
would be of no help to them.

Given that people in the USA have to source SSLeay and RSAREF,
at least, before they can build SSL Lynx, having to source a
patch file for the Lynx code itself, or the source of an SSL
proxy, shouldn't be that much of an extra burden.
