Generally setting referrer (to anything except an obviously bogus
value) is getting close to fraud.  The main reason that people check
referrer is to ensure that people don't bypass an entry page for the site.
A secondary reason is in order to pay for links to the site.  An automated
access to the site is likely to be in breach of the first condition.
