I'll look at this (some) when I try adding the patch.  At the moment I'm
working on a complicated patch for vile.  afaik, sol.slcc.edu's still not
fully operational (file-permissions).  When it is, I'll checkin the dev.13
changes (I'd really like to do that _before_ new stuff, but that really
depends on what's wrong with sol.slcc.edu)
